I've used this case to protect my nano from impact and casual water for two years while snowboarding. I do have some issues with the control lock button depending on how I carry my nano. In my pocket I can accidentally activate the control buttons. If I use the control lock then the play gets paused if the headphone plug comes out - then I have to open the box to turn the control lock off before I can restart the play. I've had a couple harsh impacts though - one of which cracked the case in which I carry my digital camera in and the lanyard loop on the digital camera itself - ipod being carried on the left side and the digital camera on the right side in roughly the same postion. The nano case has suffered no damage other than the rubber plug for the headphone port hole being ripped off (don't use it anyways when the headphones are plugged in). My other option is to carry it in my backpack where I experience fewer accidental button activations and headphone plug pull outs - but longer recovery times when I do. I'm hoping Apple will do away with the pause on pull out.
